The whole job

  1. Wipe the frameClean and dry the frame along the whole length the deflector will touch. Let it flash off — it takes seconds. That is the entire preparation.
  2. Line the pin up firstHold the deflector against the frame with the backing on and check the pin boss lines up with the hole in the frame. That alignment sets the position of everything else — get it right before any tape is exposed.
  3. Peel and pressPeel two inches at the pin end, seat that end with the boss in its hole, then work along the length peeling as you go. Press firmly for thirty seconds along the whole run.
  4. Push the pin homePush the pin through the boss until it seats. It should need firm thumb pressure and no tools. This is what stops the leading edge lifting at speed.
  5. Leave it to cureThe tape reaches full strength over the next 24 hours. The windows work as normal from the start — nothing is stuck to the glass.

Worth knowing

  • Never force the pin. If it will not seat, the deflector is a few millimetres out — lift the nearest section of tape and re-seat rather than pushing harder.
  • Fit above about 10°C so the tape bonds properly.
  • No car wash for 24 hours after fitting.
