The whole job
- Wipe the frameClean and dry the frame along the whole length the deflector will touch. Let it flash off — it takes seconds. That is the entire preparation.
- Offer it up dryHold the deflector against the frame with the backing still on. It only sits one way — the curve is cut to follow your door line. Check both ends land where you want them before anything is stuck.
- Peel and pressPeel about two inches of backing at one end, set that end, then work along the length peeling as you go. Press firmly for thirty seconds along the whole run.
- Leave it to cureThe tape reaches full strength over the next 24 hours. It bonds to the frame, not the glass, so the windows work as normal from the start.
Worth knowing
- Fit indoors or on a mild day. Below about 10°C automotive tape does not bond properly — a warm garage is enough.
- Do not run it through a car wash for 24 hours after fitting.
- If an end lifts while you are pressing, peel it back and re-seat it. Tape is far more forgiving before it cures than after.
